Sucrose - description, benefits, effects on the body and best sources

Abstract

It is a chemical compound with the formula C12H22O11 and is a naturally occurring disaccharide consisting of glucose and fructose. In layman's terms, sucrose is commonly referred to as sugar. Typically, sucrose is made from either sugar beets or sugar cane. It is also made from the sap of the Canadian sugar maple tree or from the sap of the coconut palm. Thus its name corresponds to the type of raw material from which it was produced: cane sugar, maple sugar, beet sugar. Sucrose is well soluble in water and insoluble in alcohol.
