Abstract
Chinese lemongrass, or schizandra, is a peculiar liana that grows up to 15 meters long. The plant has nothing to do with citrus fruits, but was named for the characteristic aroma emanating from its leaves. It is often used in landscape design for effective decoration of vertical surfaces and is considered one of the most useful for the body - it takes the honorable second place after ginseng.
Medicinal properties have all parts of lemongrass, from roots to seeds, but the most popular among devotees of health and folk medicine are considered its fruits, popularly called berries of five flavors for the original multifaceted taste. They are used to prepare healing tinctures, teas, and also squeeze out a tasty and very useful fraiche. Lemongrass juice can be bought in specialized retail outlets or prepared independently from fresh berries.
